The Odyssey Takes ₹47 Crore in Two Days as Saturday Beats Friday

Nolan's epic grew 26 percent on day two across 17,204 shows, the biggest Hollywood weekend India has seen this year.

The Odyssey collected ₹39.4 crore net in India across its first two days, after an opening of ₹17.4 crore and a Saturday of ₹22 crore. The film is running across 17,204 shows, the widest Hollywood footprint of the year in this market.

Growth of 26 percent from Friday to Saturday is the number that matters. Hollywood titles in India usually open at their peak and decline; a rising second day means word of mouth is working beyond the opening-weekend fanbase. Over six lakh tickets were sold on day one alone, ahead of Mission Impossible: Final Reckoning's opening tally.

The premium end is carrying an outsized share. PVR, INOX and Cinepolis together contributed roughly ₹9.5 crore gross on day one from about 1.64 lakh tickets, at an average occupancy above 20 percent, with IMAX 70mm shows in the metros sold out days in advance at some of the highest ticket prices ever charged in India.

The film's India run now has open air until Spider-Man: Brand New Day lists on 31 July.
