The first full trailer of Ramayana has been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification with a U certificate, running four minutes and fifteen seconds. It premieres on 24 July worldwide, moments after its unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con on 23 July at 3:15 pm Pacific time, which is 3:15 am on 24 July in India.

A four-minute-plus trailer is unusually long by Hindi film convention, where two minutes is the norm. It signals a campaign built to establish a world rather than sell a plot, and it matches the scale the producers have been describing since the project was announced.

The panel sits in Ballroom 20, a 4,800-seat hall that is the second largest venue at the San Diego Convention Center after Hall H. Comic-Con's own listing promises never-before-seen footage, exclusive reveals, live performances and giveaways, with producer Namit Malhotra and director Nitesh Tiwari joined by Ranbir Kapoor and Yash, described on the schedule as international superstars.

For the Indian trade, the significance is simpler than the spectacle. No Indian film has taken a platform of this size at Comic-Con before. What the room does on Thursday afternoon in California will be read in Mumbai as the first real market signal for a film carrying the biggest budget in Indian cinema.
